425 applications, 51 countries, 4 continents
In the period between August 22 and September 10, Abbie de Quant will be judging at the ARD International Music Competition, one the most renowned music competitions in the world.

The categories announced for the Munich competition this time are violoncello, flute, horn and piano duet. All in all, there were 425 applications from 51 countries and four continents. At the end of the four rounds, the prize-winners will be singled out.

This year each competitor are not only required to perform a wide repertoire ranging from the 18th century to the present day, but also a work that was especially written for the competition: for flute “Quatre melodies arméniennes” by Bruno Mantovani.

At the conclusion of the competition, the prize-winners will then present themselves one more time in three concerts, accompanied by the Munich Chamber Orchestra, the Münchner Rundfunkorchester as well as by the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks. All three concerts will be broadcast live over BR-KLASSIK.
